Subject: 5th Annual School Safety Summit
Date: July 19, 2017
Carroll County Schools and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office will host the 5th Annual School Safety Summit on July 21, 2017 at the Ag Center in Carrollton. Over 200 participants and visitors are expected to attend the event, with participation from all county schools, public safety and health agencies, including Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Fire Rescue, City of Carrollton Police, City of Carrollton Fire, Villa Rica Police, Temple Police, Mt. Zion Police, Bowdon Police, Whitesburg Police, University of West Georgia Police, E-911, West Georgia Ambulance, Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Tanner.
School Board Attorney Cynthia Daley and Assistant Superintendent Terry Jones will lead the participants through a hypothetical situation to test how each school’s safety plan addresses the scenario and further evaluates it for needed improvements. The more that our school faculty emphasize safety, the better prepared they will be if a real-life event happens at their school.
Carroll County is very fortunate to have so many leaders who will do whatever it takes to keep our school children safe. We are especially appreciative to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for its sponsorship of the event and to the School Safety Team Members for their continued service.
